Besides the beach...
If it were up to us, the sun would shine throughout your stay here, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee good weather...
However, our city and its surroundings provide several opportunities for a meaningful and active vacation, even when the weather is less suitable for beaching. We hope that in the following list, every age group will find a recreation opportunity to their liking.
- You can find out about cultural programs, light and classical music concerts, summer theater performances and festivals held in the city at https://muvelodesikozpont-siofok.hu/?oldal=programfuzet
- Jókai Park, with its area of more than 4.5 hectares, is the largest and most patinated park in Siófok. With its walking paths, benches, and playgrounds under the tall trees that provide shade, it offers pleasant moments to all visitors. Pictures taken at the bridge of the Japanese garden in the corner of the park and the statue of Gyula Krúdy in a carriage are the decorations of almost every guest visiting Siófok's photo album.
- The adventure pools, slides, thermal water and sauna world of the Galerius Bath provide refreshment on cooler days, even in gloomy or rainy weather. The bath can be reached from our apartment building in 10 minutes by local bus number 2. You can find out more about the bath's services and ticket prices at www.galerius-furdo.hu. (The spa is currently under renovation!)
- The Main Square serves as a real community and meeting place for the city's residents and guests. On the square and nearby, museums (Kálmány Imre Memorial House, Egg Museum, Mineral Museum), cultural institutions (Kálmán Imre Cultural Center, Balaton Regional Historical Research Institute and Library) await those who wish to spend their free time meaningfully. Numerous cafes and restaurants await those who take a break from their downtown walk. The northern side of the Main Square is bordered by the Sió Plaza with a cinema, catering and other shops (www.sioplaza.com).
- In the middle of the Main Square, the symbol of the city, the hundred-year-old industrial monument, the Water Tower, rises. At its foot is the local Tourinform office, and in the tower's globe there is an observation terrace, a café and a visitor center, which can be reached by two panoramic elevators. A special feature of the visitor center is that its floor slowly rotates, thus showing a panorama of Lake Balaton and its surroundings (www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1tlWNBGgBk).
- Speed lovers can test their skills on the go-kart track located at the eastern gate of the city. The track also offers the possibility of individual timing and competitions. The track is easily accessible on foot from our apartment house. You can find out about the track's opening hours on www.gokartbalaton.hu.
- A popular excursion spot in Siófok is the Töreki Halastavak nature reserve, located not far from the city, among gentle hills, in the valley of the Cinege stream, covering an area of about 300 hectares. A lake system consisting of 10 lakes and covering an area of 36 hectares was built on the stream. The Cinege rest area with its pleasant surroundings can be reached by following the red sign, where the gurgling of a fresh water spring and a baking area suitable for picnicking await hikers who want to rest and refresh themselves. A 12-station nature trail in the area presents the typical flora and fauna of the area. The area can be reached on main road 7, via the Törek access road at the Balatonszéplak gas station.
- "feheruurau rea meneh hadou utu rea" Siófok is mentioned as "Fuk" in the first written Hungarian language monument, the Founding Letter of the Tihany Abbey in 1055. The Abbey is easily accessible by a pleasant boat trip. The tomb of our King Andrew I (1013-1060) can be seen in its crypt, while a wonderful panorama opens up before the visitor from the side of the building. Information about the Balaton sailing schedule and other boat programs is available on the pages of www.balatonihajozas.hu.
- If you want to "hang out" a bit, it is worth visiting the Zamárdi Adventure Park. In addition to three children's, four junior and seven adult tracks, a 1.5 km long slide tests the skill and courage of visitors. You can ride water slides and water balls on the small lake in the middle of the ancient tree grove. For the little ones, there is a mini train that runs through the entire park, passing through tunnels and bridges, pulled by a real coal and water-powered steam locomotive. You can find out about the park's opening hours and prices on the website www.zamardikalandpark.hu.
- The Zamárdiring go-kart track is located next to the Zamárdi Adventure Park. At the end of the races, each competitor receives their own and their competitors' results, broken down by lap. Further information is available at www.zamardiring.hu.
